The Impact of Global Recession to the Slum
It is now clear that the globe is in a mess and very urgent measures are required in order to find a lasting solution to the current economic global crisis. With the collapse of Wall Street and other major financial institution, both the rich and the poor now face a common problem that threats the stability of many people and countries.
The capitalist ideologies are proving to be irrelevant based on an individual having more than others do. The model has lead the world to a crisis that never been experienced for a very long time.
With thousands of people in the West losing their jobs and houses, the fuel shortages and the starvation in most developing countries, one does not need to be an economist to understand what is happening in the world.
As world leaders and the financial institution are busy trying to find the solution on the current global crisis, majority of the poor continue to suffer with others losing their jobs.
In the slum, though they may not be aware are feeling the pinch as the living standard continue to go up. The food price escalates each day leaving the poor without an option.
The life of majority of slum dwellers is becoming more and more difficult as they struggle to work to feed their families. Saving here is very difficult as the trend is only to work for the hand to the stomach, considering that majority earn peanuts things are not that better for them.
The escalating prices of commodities also threaten the existence of many slum people as the youths struggle through illegal means to put something in their stomach.
As the situation get worse each and everyday, we are optimist that a solution will be found very soon to save the lives of thousand of poor people in the world.
